MIA Honolulu Reading

In the summer of 2018, my partner Spencer and I inherited the reins of Mixing Innovative Arts (MIA) Honolulu, a monthly reading and literary arts series. This was my first reading at MIA as a co-organizer. The theme of the event was around politics, and I read a satirical piece I had recently published in Honolulu Civil Beat. It was a fun night with more laughter than heated discussion, and I was delighted to share the stage with fellow Hawai’i writer/politician Sonny Ganaden and Hawai’i poet D. Keali’i MacKenzie.

Hawaii Book and Music Festival

I will be reading for a hot minute with my fellow Ms. Aligned 2 contributors at the Hawai'i Book and Music Festival! This annual 2-day festival at Honolulu Hale is free and features both local and visiting writers (plus Steve from Blues Clues.) In addition to sharing a panel with Lillian Howan, Adele Ne Jame, Pat Matsueda, and Angelia Nishimoto, I'm also looking forward to seeing panels with the following presenters: Matthew Zapruder, William Finnegan, Jaimie Gusman, Tyler McMahon, Dana Naone Hall, Susan Schultz, and Bamboo Ridge's Aloha Shorts performers. Click here to view the complete schedule and catch us at the Makai Authors Pavilion at 11am Sunday!

It's Lit with PhDJ

I had the pleasure of appearing as a live guest on It's Lit with PhDJ. This weekly radio show broadcasted on KTUH-FM and co-hosted by Anjoli Roy (aka PhDJ) and Jocelyn Kapumealani Ng features "writers to love and the music their work plays best around." Listen to my recorded episode on Mixcloud here and follow the playlist on Spinitron. (My poems start around the 30-minute mark.) Also be sure to check out the complete It's Lit with PhDJ archive, including more than 50 episodes with West Coast and Pacific writers. The show will continue to air live through Spring 2018, and they're looking for more writers to join the guest list! Here's how to submit.
